HSC Dance Practical Examinations

Congratulations to our HSC Dance students and Ms Hannah Johnson on their recent HSC Dance Practical Examinations. NESA was at the College on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd August to mark student performances, compositions and films. The students all performed well.

HSC Drama and Music Practical Dates

Dates for HSC Drama and Music Performance Examinations have been released. NESA will be marking HSC Drama in the school Theatre on Tuesday 3rd September and Music in the Music Department on Friday 20th September. Please note that access to the theatre and music department on these days will be restricted with instrumental tuition also being cancelled on Friday 20th September to ensure the students have the best exam conditions possible. Good luck to our Drama and Music students as they make their final preparations.

Drama Academy Workshop

Thank you to Lisa Rogers who attended the college on Wednesday 21st August to run a full day workshop with students in the Primary Drama Academy. The day focussed on the students learning a ‘Play In A Day’ where they explored character development, blocking and other dramatic elements. The students learned a scene from Grease and performed in two casts. Thank you to Ms Katie Gudgeon and Ms Rachel Caesar for their work planning and preparing this workshop and to students Tim Hardman (10) and Ben Caesar (11) for their assistance.

Secondary Choir Workshop

The Secondary Choir had a workshop with accompanist Noriko Matsuura on Tuesday 27th August. Noriko has experience working as an accompanist in both Tokyo and Brisbane - where she played in locations such as the Queensland Conservatorium and St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School. While in Brisbane, she worked as an accompanist for competitions and exams such as the Brisbane Eisteddfod, the Australian Strings Association Competition, and the AMEB. Noriko also regularly worked for the Queensland University of Technology in international student support. Since moving to Nambucca Heads in 2021, Noriko enjoys walking at the V Wall with her 14 years old Staffie, and fishing in Nambucca River.

It was great having Noriko work with our Secondary Choir students. Thank you to Cathryn Burgess for organising this visit.

Secondary Assembly Performances

Thank you to our recent performers at the Secondary Assemblies. Stan Watson performed Olivia O’Reilly’s HSC Dance Composition at the Week 4 assembly.
