At the beginning of the term, a uniform survey was sent out as part of the Welcome to Term 3 letter in the Primary School to gather feedback from parents about the current primary school uniform. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many sharing valuable insights into what works and what could be improved.
One of the standout findings was the high praise for our school jacket, which was overwhelmingly voted as the most comfortable item on the uniform list. Parents and students alike appreciated its practicality, warmth, and the comfort it provides during colder months. This positive feedback reinforces our decision to continue offering this essential item as part of our uniform. It is important to note that the soft-shell jacket is an item that can be worn with both the formal and sports uniform.
On the other hand, the Primary dress emerged as an area needing attention. 34.4% of respondents indicated that the dress could benefit from improvements in both design and material. Concerns were raised about its fit and suitability for varying weather conditions, suggesting that it may be time for a review and possible redesign.
We are excited to announce that, following feedback from our school community, the house shirts across the college will be made from a new, more breathable material. This change is in direct response to concerns raised about the comfort of the current fabric, particularly during warmer months and physical activities. The new material is designed to enhance airflow, keeping students cooler and more comfortable throughout the day. We believe this update will greatly improve the overall experience for our students and help them perform at their best in both academic and sporting activities. The new material will be available for sale at the beginning of 2025.
We value your feedback and are committed to ensuring our uniform meets the needs of our students. The College Leadership Team will be reviewing all survey responses and considering changes where necessary to ensure comfort, practicality, and pride in our school attire.

This week the iHub activity has largely centred around students' exam preparations, research and preparation of assessment tasks. Thank you to the wonderful IT and Library staff that are always at hand to help students with a multitude of technical and research issues!
Book Week gave us all the opportunity to celebrate the Reading is Magic theme for this year. It is an exciting time at BDC, and all over Australia - as we celebrate amazing authors, illustrators, and books that enrich our lives.
Whilst the Primary school continued their much-loved tradition of the Book Week parade on Friday of Week 5, there was an enthusiastic contingent of senior students involved in the event as well!
During this week, students and teachers dress up as their favourite book characters, fostering a love for reading and creativity. Even the staff of the senior library joined in the spirit of Book Week: from Tinkerbell (Michaela) Andrews and Ms Ali Dare (representative of Gryffindor house), and a magic-themed book display featured throughout the iHub!

Challenge yourself, and family members to set some reading goals! Reading has so many benefits apart from improving academic performance and literacy skills. It enriches our souls, improves mental health, and nourishes our imaginations!
